Sep 30, 2020 Inspiration and Support Series: Connecting and Collaborating with Educators and Facilitators from Across the Globe
Over the past six weeks, I’ve been facilitating online “Inspiration and Support Sessions” with educators and facilitators from all over the world. In these co-creative small-group weekly series, we explore ways to meaningfully engage participants/students and promote voice, choice, dialogue, and reflection in online and hybrid learning.
These opportunities to connect, share, and collaborate with thoughtful and creative educators have been the brightest of my “silver lining” experiences during the pandemic.
The first four workshop cohorts are in progress now. Two new six-week sessions will start on October 27th: one on Tuesday mornings “The Inspired Online Facilitator, Trainer or Coach” and one on Tuesday afternoons for K-12 and college educators “Inspiration and Support Sessions for Educators Navigating Remote and Hybrid Learning.”
In these learning communities, we’ve explored practical engagement strategies, connection, teaching, SEL, and teambuilding activities adapted to online and in-person at-a-distance, and gained new tech tools, apps, tricks, and tips – all while reflecting on the “why” behind our practices and focusing on the most important aspects of facilitation and teaching: intentionality, compassion, thoughtful sequencing, relationship building, emotional safety, meaning-making, ownership and, application to life and future learning.
What participants are saying about the Inspiration and Support Sessions:
“This has been amazing. The time flies because the sessions are so engaging. I received my money’s worth in the first hour of the first session!”
“This is just what I needed! I put the entry activity, breakout group techniques, and dialogue sparking ideas to use with my college students right after the workshop ended!”
“I appreciate that along with sharing your useful tools and techniques, you have helped us engage with and learn from each. Your style gives everyone ownership in the learning process.“
“I love collaborating with, and hearing experiences and perspectives from educators from outside of my day-to-day network. How cool to be in a learning community with people from India, Japan, Quebec, and all regions of the U.S.”
“I look forward to these sessions every week! I savor the time in our workshops. It has truly helped me serve my students. My 5th graders LOVED the Team Tally activity you showed us. Thank you for helping me feel more confident about facilitating breakout groups in Zoom.”
“You opened my eyes regarding the options that exist within Zoom for bringing experiential engagement and team-building methods online! Thank you for helping me create a positive learning community for my teams and engage them in meaningful reflection.”
